OKLAHOMA CITY — California Storm forward Sydney Schultz was named the Goal Five Player of the Week (May 13-19) for her efforts in her club's 3-0 home win vs. Players North Soccer Club on Sunday, the league announced Friday.

Schultz scored the match's opening goal when she fought through traffic in the box to win the ball and place it in the back-left corner. The West Sacramento, California native also had a spectacular diving header in the second half that just missed wide of net.

"Sydney was tenacious in her attack," Storm coach Jamie Howard-Levoy said. "Sydney brings a whole new level of physicality and fearlessness to the front line. She is also a very smart player, knowing when to play the ball off and when to take players on one-on-one."

Schultz is entering her sophomore year at Loyola Marymount University (California). She made 16 appearances (eight starts) and tallied three assists in her freshman season.

The Storm are tied with San Ramon FC at the top of the Pac North Conference standings and play at Marin FC Alliance this upcoming Sunday.
