OKLAHOMA CITY — Steel City FC goalkeeper Jess Neill earned the Renegade GK Save of the Week with her efforts in the 47th minute in Saturday's 0-0 draw at Hershey FC.

Neill, who completed her collegiate playing career last fall at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, was called into action often with Hershey applying pressure with seven shots on target and another shot ricocheting off the right post.

"Jess was very strong on Saturday," Steel City FC owner Stephanie Harrison said. "She made several solid saves and was quick on her feet when the ball was passed back to her."

The most impressive of Neill's saves occurred in the 47th minute. Hershey had a quick give-and-go from the top of the penalty box, leaving its right winger open for a quick touch then right-footed shot from 10 yards out.

Neill stayed calm on her line, reading the ball, before getting her hands up just in time to push the ball wide of the far post.

The save kept the match scoreless and ultimately allowed Steel City to earn a hard-fought road point in its season opener.

"Jess brings a lot of trust in the back for us, just as she was steady for us all last season, too," Harrison said. "She plays a key role in helping us play the style we want to play."
