OKLAHOMA CITY — SouthStar FC goalkeeper Emily Alvarado and Oak City United goalkeeper Natayla Marcove have earned Renegade GK Saves of the Week for plays in their club's victories during the past weekend.

Alvarado and her SouthStar FC teammates had an impressive performance in their club's WPSL debut, defeated defending Red River Conference champion FC Dallas 2-0 on May 31.

This was in part to Alvarado's save in the 79th minute where a screaming FC Dallas shot from the top of the box appeared to be heading toward the back of the net. Alvarado dove to her right, but as the ball swerved late she got her left hand up and slapped the ball above the bar.

Alvarado is entering her junior season at TCU and has been a frequent call up to the Mexican Youth National Teams.

Marcove had a similar type save in her club's 6-0 victory vs. Lake Norman Eclipse on Saturday. However, the shot she faced was a one that subtly floated from shoulder-height to almost nearly above Marcove's arm reach.

Marcove, a senior at Campbell University in North Carolina, used her right hand to push the ball over the bar.
