OKLAHOMA CITY — Team Boca Blast goalkeeper Ryleigh Brown earned the Renegade GK Save of the Week after her standout performance in her club's season opener at FC Surge on June 5.

Brown made three noteworthy saves in the 0-0 draw against FC Surge, giving Team Boca Blast the only result any club has earned against Surge this season.

In regard to preserving the scoreline, Brown had two second-half saves that kept FC Surge off the goalsheet. The first in the 61st minute was a 25-yard free kick attempt that Brown pushed wide of the near post, and the second a FC Surge breakaway in the 74th minute that forced Brown to make a sliding tackle or otherwise give up an open, close-range shot.

But the most eye-opening save occurred in the 31st minute. FC Surger midfielder Krissy Fisher, who was named the WPSL Player of the Week the previous week, ran unmarked into the box and rocketed a shot toward the top of the goal from eight-yards away.

Brown reached up and somehow deflected the fastball above the bar, a key foreshadowing of the evening that would ultimately end in a scoreless draw.

Brown is a junior at American University in Washington, D.C. In 2018 she led the Patriot League with 6.1 saves per game.
