OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma - Houston Dash announced earlier today the signing of Oklahoma City FC midfielder, Jaci Jones on a short term contract.

Over the past six seasons that Jones has been with Oklahoma City FC, the midfielder has made a lasting impact on her team, both on and off the field, as player who is always striving to improve her game. During her time, Oklahoma City FC has advanced to the WPSL playoffs in the 2014 and 2015 seasons and holds a 48-18-10 record.

“Jaci’s impact reaches far past the confines of the field. She’s an amazing ambassador for the game and a great role model for young female soccer players,” Evan Dresel, Oklahoma City FC Head Coach said. “If you ask many young players in Oklahoma who their favorite soccer player is, they will say Jaci Jones”.

The Oklahoma native will join 10 other WPSL alumnae who are currently on Houston’s roster including Bridgette Andrzejewski (Washington Spirit Reserves), Cami Privett (AHFC Royals), and Bri Visalli (Chicago Red Stars Reserves), as well as CeCe Kizer (KC Athletics) who just recently signed a new two-year contract with the club earlier this week.

“Jaci makes every team she is on better. I have no doubt she can play and excel at that level [NWSL]”, Dresel said. “She’s the most coachable player I know, so she will improve every day and I will not be surprised if she has an important role in the team once she can get in and prove herself.”

During her senior season in 2019 with Oklahoma State, Jones led the Big 12 conference with 12 assists and lead the Cowgirls to the regular season championship with a 16-3-3 record. Jones was also awarded The Big 12 Sportsperson of the Year award in May of this year – an award given annually to a Big 12 student-athlete that displays an extraordinary degree of sportsmanship, community service and academic achievement; becoming the first Oklahoma State recipient of the award, male or female, since its inception in 2001. Jones played 82 collegiate matches during her time with Oklahoma State, scoring 18 goals with 24 assists.

“It’s hard to find a way to adequately describe Jaci as a player, she is so great on so many levels,” Dresel said. “She’s technically and athletically gifted but I think her most endearing qualities are her hard work and leadership skills. She’s also one of the most humble players you will ever meet.”

Jones is only one of two Oklahoma City FC players to play all eight matches of the 2019 WPSL season where she scored two goals with two assists. Her six seasons with the club is also a club record for most consecutive seasons played.

Houston’s next match in the NWSL Fall Series will be Saturday September 26th versus Orlando Pride at BBVA Stadium in Houston, Texas. Dash are coming off a 4-3 loss against North Carolina Courage during their first match of the series.
