Cottleville, MO  – The St. Louis Lions WPSL club did not wait long after its expansion announcement to reveal the club's first players.

Goalkeeper Mary Niehaus from Saint Louis University and midfielder Raquel Rodriguez were announced as the Lions' first two players in club history.

Niehaus, a senior at Saint Louis University, began her final season tied for seventh in wins (14) and shutouts (nine), eighth in minutes (1,873) and ninth in saves (63) on the Billikens' career lists.

Both Rodriguez, a sophomore from Southwest Baptist University, and Niehaus played on St. Louis Lions Super Y club in 2013. The club finished third at nationals that season.
