LaForge joins KC Courage as coach

KANSAS CITY – Katie LaForge will be KC Courage's coach for the 2018 WPSL season.

 

Former coach Wendy Louque will step into an assistant role with Aaron Weissenfluh as KC Courage enters its fifth WPSL season.

 

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to showcase the excellent talent of Kansas City players” LaForge said. “I’m excited to work with the exceptional Courage coaching staff to give our team the best environment to grow and compete in."

 

LaForge, formerly Kelly, also recently stepped into the head coaching position at Avila University. She was the former assistant coach at Kansas City Kansas Community College. She is current USSF “B” license candidate, and she received her bachelor’s degree from Marquette University in public relations and marketing.

 

An accomplished player, LaForge played at Marquette and professionally for six seasons. She began her professional career in Sweden playing for Kristianstad in 2010 and Stockholm in 2011. The 2012 season was spent in Leipzig, Germany before returning to Kansas City with FC Kansas City in 2013. Her last two seasons were spent in Finland in KoKKola and Aland. LaForge played her final summer with KC Courage WPSL team.

 

The KC Courage will hold an open tryout on Sunday, May 6.
