As the 2018 WPSL season continues to ramp up, seven matches are scheduled in the WPSL’s West Region this weekend.

None are bigger than the Sunday afternoon clash between Pac North powerhouses Fresno FC Ladies and California Storm at 2 p.m. PDT on the campus of Fresno City College.

History indicates this match has the potential to decide the Pac North, and the winner will have the inside track toward finishing first in the division. Fresno started strong with a 6-0 win over Primero de Mayo two weeks ago, but this will be the Storm's first match of the 2018 campaign.

In the Mountain Division, there’s the second leg of the Salt Lake City Derby. Utah Red Devis won first match 3-0. Utah Arrows SC will need to achieve a result this weekend or else risk falling a full six points behind their local rivals. With a regular season schedule of just eight games in total, the deficit would be an awful lot of ground to have to make up after two weeks of the season.

There will also be a Pac South local derby, for San Diego SeaLions meet San Diego Parceiro Ladies. The SeaLions ran away with the Pac South a year ago finishing 16 points clear of second place. This is the 2018 debut for both clubs and the first WPSL match for expansion club Parceiro.

A couple of Los Angeles based clubs are pulling double duty this weekend. LA Premier FC hosts LA Villa FC at 7 p.m. PDT on Saturday and then travels to face Legends FC at 6 p.m. on Sunday. The latter meeting will also be Legends’ second match of the weekend, for they play SoCal FC on Saturday.

Pleasanton RAGE makes its WPSL debut at 7 p.m. PDT on Saturday hosting Primero de Mayo, which lost opening weekend at Fresno.
