This past weekend was the busiest weekend for the WPSL’s West Region so far this season. Old rivals clashed and expansion sides made stunning debuts. Let’s highlight some of this past weekend’s action.

FRESNO FC LADIES 3, CALIFORNIA STORM 2

Fresno FC Ladies roared back from a 2-1 second-half deficit to claim a 3-2 victory and snatch a massive three points from division rivals California Storm. Leah Larot triggered Fresno’s second-half outburst, for she scored the equalizer in the 65th minute chipping the Storm's keeper. Larot assisted Elisa Soderholm’s 79th-minute winner with a cross into the box that Soderholm headed into the back of the net. Fresno is now out to a commanding six-point lead over the Storm in the Bay Area Division, though the Storm does have a game in hand.

PLEASANTON RAGE 2, PRIMERO DE MAYO 1

This was Pleasanton RAGE’s first match as members of the WPSL, and it will be pleased to have claimed all three points. Pleasanton is now three points back of Pac North Division leader Fresno. Primero de Mayo is winless in its first two matches of the 2018 season.

SAN DIEGO PARCEIRO 1, SAN DIEGO SEALIONS 0

Mary Reilly's second-half goal gave San Diego Parceiro an upset victory over runaway defending Pac South champions San Diego SeaLions in the season opener for both clubs. The result gives the WPSL expansion side an early three-point lead in the Pac South standings and leaves the SeaLions with some catching up to do if they are to defend their division crown.
