The South Region has a full slate of matches this upcoming weekend, with several clubs making their WPSL debuts and the start of the Sunshine Conference season.

The events begin on Friday evening, with LNSC Eclipse hosting Asheville City SC. Asheville has made its WPSL debut with a bang, winning its first two conference games in dominant fashion, complete with two shutouts. Meanwhile, LNSC Eclipse narrowly lost to Oak City United by a single goal in its first match of 2018. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. Eastern at Pine Lake Prep in Mooresville, N.C.

The Nashville Rhythm will travel to Knoxville to play the Emerald Force in the second and final Friday fixture in the South Region. Nashville currently sit in first place in the Southeast Conference, while Emerald Force are only a single point behind. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Eastern at Samson Sports Complex in Knoxville, Tenn.

Saturday begins in the Gulf Conference, as Alabama FC hosts Mississippi Blues Soccer Club. Both clubs lost their 2018 openers 2-1 last weekend. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Central at Sportsblast in Birmingham, Ala.

Memphis Lobos have their home opener for 2018 against Peachtree City MOBA. Peachtree City drew 2-2 with the Nashville Rhythm in its inaugural WPSL game, while the Lobos are looking for a turnaround after losing their first two matches. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. Central at Houston Middle School in Memphis, Tenn.

Discoveries SC are set to take on Beaufort County FC in the second ever WPSL match for the former. Discoveries lost their inaugural match to Oak City United, while Beaufort County lost its home opener to the Carolina Rapids. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. Eastern at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C.

The Sunshine Conference will finally get its 2018 season underway on Saturday with the Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions hosting the recently rebranded Florida Tropics SC. The Tropics were formerly known as Pinellas County United, and have entered into a partnership with the Tropics SC organization. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. Eastern at North Fort Myers Community Park in North Fort Myers, Fla.

Carolina Lady Dynamo is scheduled to host Charleston Fleet FC. Both clubs have fallen victim to Asheville City SC this season and are both looking for a win. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Eastern at Macpherson Stadium in Browns Summit, N.C.

FC Surge will host the Florida Krush in the second Sunshine Conference match of the day. FC Surge finished second in the Sunshine Conference last year thanks to a solid six-win season. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. Eastern at Amelia Earhart Park in Hialeah, Fla.

Last week’s winners from the Gulf Conference are set to play each other in the final Saturday Match. Pensacola FC and WPSL rookie Baton Rouge United both won 2-1 last weekend. The winner of this match will take the top spot in the Gulf Conference standings for the week. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. Central at Ashton Brosnaham Stadium in Pensacola, Fla.

Sunday’s events start with the Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions hosting last year’s Sunshine Conference Champion, Tampa Bay United. Tampa Bay won all nine games played in 2017 with the highest goal differential in the South Region. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern at North Fort Myers Community Park in North Fort Myers, Fla.

Beaufort County FC and LNSC Eclipse will both have a second opportunity to get that first win this weekend when the two clubs play on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. Eastern at Mooresville High School in Mooresville, N.C.

Puerto Rico Pride FC is set to make its WPSL debut on the road against Florida Sol FC. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. Eastern at the Clay County Soccer Complex in Fleming Island, Fla. Fun fact: Fleming Island is not actually an island, nor on an island. It is, however, near Jacksonville.

Oak City United will host Charleston Fleet FC in a match that could put Oak City at the top of the Carolinas Conference, should it win and Asheville lose or draw. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. Eastern at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.

Carolina Lady Dynamo will play its second game in under 24 hours when it hosts the Carolina Rapids. The Rapids are one of three clubs in the Carolinas Conference to win their first two matches of 2018. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. Eastern at Macpherson Stadium in Browns Summit, N.C.

The final match on Sunday features the current top two clubs in the Southeast Conference, with Chattanooga FC hosting the Nashville Rhythm. Both clubs last played on May 20, with Chattanooga beating Emerald Force and Nashville drawing Peachtree City MOBA. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Finally, Peachtree City MOBA hosts Emerald Force in the lone Monday match. Peachtree City return home after opening its season with two road matches. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Eastern at MOBA Soccer Stadium in Peachtree City, Ga.

That’s all for this packed week of soccer in the South Region. Action continues next Wednesday, June 6, with the first of two midweek matches, followed by a very busy Saturday.
