Game of the Week

The Game of the Week in the West Region is being played twice. You heard me right. FC Tucson Women and Phoenix Del Sol have a home-and-home scheduled for Friday and Sunday, with Tucson hosting the first leg. As the two teams are positioned first and second in the Pac South Conference, if either team can manage to sweep this weekend series, they’ll have clear control of the division. If Phoneix and Tucson split the points on more than one occasion, it will create a chance for the San Diego clubs to catch up to them.

Player on Fire

California Storm forward Remy Siemsen has either scored or assisted six of the nine goals her club has scored this season. This is the 18-year-old’s first season competing in the WPSL, but she’s already more accomplished than most; Siemsen is a youth international for Australia and is a two-time New South Wales Player of the Year. She’ll look to keep her stunning debut campaign going on Saturday when the Storm host the Pleasanton RAGE.

Shutout streak on the line

Utah Red Devils have yet to concede a goal in the 2018 season. Can they keep the ball out of their net for the fourth time in a row on Friday? Utah’s opponent, Players SC, scored four goals in its lone match to date.

Tweet of the Week

Soccer isn’t all tika-taka passing and golazos. Sometimes you’ve got to stuck in and force a collision to win the ball, as San Ramon FC demonstrated with these photos from their match against MVLA Wolves.
