Texas Spurs FC 4, Little Rock Rangers 1

This season has been one of split results for Texas Spurs FC.

The Lucas, Texas based club has rotated through wins and losses. Texas Spurs FC has yet to keep a consistent streak, winning or losing, going. Every match has had a different result.

Saturday was no different. Traveling to War Memorial Stadium, Texas Spurs FC defeated Little Rock Rangers on the road, 4-1. Gabriella Coleman, a product of Mississippi State University, scored a hat trick in the victory.

Alexis Cable, who was once named to the 2016 Texas Spurs All-Star player list, also added her name to the scoresheet. Kendall Pryor assisted three out of the four goals. Two of Pryor’s assists were on Coleman’s goals.

All of the Texas Spurs FC goals were scored in the first half. Little Rock did not find the back of the net until the second half. Sairra Tucker, who is entering her senior year for the Little Rock Trojans, scored the lone goal for the Rangers.

Fortuna Tulsa 2, FC Wichita 0

Fortuna Tulsa earned its first victory over FC Wichita on Saturday night.

What was even more impressive was the crowd that gathered to witness the spectacle. Fortuna Tulsa boasted 1,127 fans at the University of Tulsa Soccer Stadium. The Oklahoma club claimed the 2-0 victory at home.

“Fantastic to get the result tonight, especially against the top team in our conference,” Michael Wilson, Fortuna Tulsa head coach, said to the club site after the match. “We played really well and created a lot of chances. Proud of the team for allowing one shot on goal.”

It took Taylor Malham only five minutes to find the back of Jami Reichenberger’s net. Malham’s first shot took a deflection off a FC Wichita defender, but the ball found its way back to her. On her second attempt, Malham snuck the ball past Reichenberger.

In the 32nd minute, Parker Goins found Yolanda Thomas in the box, surrounded by three defenders. However, a quick shot put the visitors up 2-0.

Despite the loss, FC Wichita assistant coach Corey Bryant praised Reichenberger for her game and called her the best goalkeeper in the Southwest Conference.

“To have [Reichenberger] sitting behind our back four is unbelievable,” Bryant said to the club site afterward. “She’s the best goalkeeper in the conference, hands down.”

Chicago Red Stars Reserves 2, Dakota Fusion FC 0

The Dakota Fusion FC are still looking for its first victory in the WPSL, but the club is showing signs of improvement.

Dakota already had two competitions under their belt before facing the Chicago Red Stars Reserves on June 1. However, while that match ended in a 8-0 loss, the rematch was entirely different.

The Fusion showed signs of improvement under coach Jack Hartley by holding Chicago to only two goals. Dominique Randle and Tamae Douglas scored for the Red Stars Reserves.

Douglas also a recorded an assist. Meanwhile, Zoey Goralski also tacked on an assist. Chicago is undefeated in the North Conference but had to hold its breath the entire match. Dakota even held the Red Stars Reserves scoreless for the entire first half.

Dakota will look for its first WPSL win on Saturday. The Fusion will travel to face Milwaukee Torrent.
