It’s going to be a wild week in the East Region in Week 6, with fifteen matches scheduled and several top clubs taking each other on.

Ohio Valley Conference Match of the Week: FC Pride vs Motor City FC

Detroit’s own Motor City FC is off to an absurdly hot start. In four matches, the club has four wins, and goalkeepers Bethany Kopel and Victoria Cope have yet to concede a single goal. Defender Courtney Petersen has been stellar on both sides of the ball, leading her club in scoring with three goals already this season. Detroit’s opposition this weekend, FC Pride, is also undefeated, with two wins and a draw. This match has major implications for the Ohio Valley Conference standings.

Colonial Conference Match of the Week: Washington Spirit Reserves vs Virginia Beach City FC

Virginia Beach City FC remains undefeated after two matches, thanks to consecutive draws. Its opponent, the Washington Spirit Reserves, has never lost a WPSL match. These two clubs are part of a very close fight in the Colonial Conference that seems as if it won’t be decided until the dying moments of the season. A win for Virginia Beach ends one of the longest undefeated streaks in league history.

Metropolitan Conference Match of the Week: SUSA FC vs Rhode Island Rogues

In their first WPSL campaign, the Rhode Island Rogues have already impressed. They’ve won all three matches played and have conceded only twice. Rhode Island’s Mariah Kaiser already has a hat trick this season against New York Athletic Club with a total of four goals in her previous two matches. Fellow WPSL newcomer SUSA FC has also won all three matches played, sitting level on points at the top of the Metropolitan Conference. These two clubs are rapidly proving themselves against veteran opposition.

Mid-Atlantic Conference Match of the Week: Lehigh Valley Tempest vs Torch FC

The Mid-Atlantic Conference remains a tight race with just six points separating first from fourth. Torch FC leads the conference thanks to four wins, though Lehigh Valley isn’t far behind. The two clubs play for the first time this season in the lone Mid-Atlantic Conference match this weekend. With both clubs having already played five, this one is an absolute must-win to remain in contention for the conference title.

Hot Streak - Cleveland Ambassadors’ Anna Rico

Cleveland sits in second place in the Ohio Valley Conference, thanks in large part to some stellar performances from forward Anna Rico. In the previous three matches, she has five goals including a hat trick against AAFC Lumberjills. Rico leads the East Region in scoring and is tied for first place in the league. Cleveland will travel to Pittsburgh to take on Steel City FC, and a win for Cleveland keeps them in the fight against Motor City FC.

Save the Crew Night with Columbus Eagles FC

The tight-knit soccer community in Columbus, Ohio, has rallied around the ‘Save the Crew’ campaign, working to keep their Major League Soccer club from leaving the city. The Eagles were early supporters of the movement, which has helped their fanbase grow dramatically. In a celebration of the movement and of the Columbus soccer community as a whole, the Eagles have designated Saturday’s match against Empire Revs as Save the Crew Night. The Save the Crew organizers will be present to promote their campaign as well as to support their local WPSL club.
