Fourteen matches make up the schedule for Week 6 in the South Region. Eight clubs have yet to lose, and seven are still fighting for that illusive first win.

Carolinas Conference Match of the Week: Carolina Rapids vs Asheville City SC

This is a match I personally have been anticipating for weeks. The two undefeated Carolinas Conference clubs will finally play each other in the only match between the two this season. The Rapids are fresh off a big win over Discoveries SC in Week 5, while Asheville drew with Beaufort County FC. Samuelle Grove and Megan Greene lead the Rapids in scoring with three goals each, while Asheville has conceded just a single goal all season. This really is a six-pointer and could end up being the difference at season’s end.

Gulf Conference Match of the Week: Baton Rouge United vs Mississippi Blues SC

The Gulf Conference season is roughly halfway gone with Baton Rouge United emerging as a frontrunner in its debut season. Meanwhile, fellow newcomer Mississippi Blues SC is still searching for its first league win. Baton Rouge’s Adrienne Richards leads the South Region in scoring with five goals in only two matches and is tied for first in the league. A win for Baton Rouge could see it take a lead over Pensacola FC, and a win for Mississippi would be a monumental victory.

Sunshine Conference Match of the Week: Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions vs Team Boca Blast

Despite a fairly young season, several clubs in the Sunshine Conference are already making a push for the top spot in the table. Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions sit second, while Team Boca Blast sits just two points behind with a match in hand. The Dutch Lions had a solid debut season last year and are still looking to prove themselves in a tough Floridian conference.

Southeast Conference Match of the Week: Chattanooga FC vs Peachtree City MOBA

Chattanooga FC stands alone as the last remaining unbeaten team in the Southeast conference winning all three matches played. In Georgia, Peachtree City MOBA are off to a very strong inaugural campaign. The two clubs occupy the top two spots in the conference standings separated by only two points. Chattanooga won the first match between the two last weekend 2-0, and a win in the rematch helps in its challenge for the conference title.

Familiar Foes: Tampa Bay United vs Florida Sol FC

Tampa Bay United was unstoppable in 2017, winning all nine matches and conceding only three goals. The club’s 2018 season is only one match old, but Tampa Bay won it 2-1 over Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions. The last match between the two was nearly exactly one year ago, on June 17, 2017, with Tampa Bay winning 2-1. This rematch has been a long time in the making.
