COLUMBUS EAGLES FC 4, EMPIRE REVS 0

On #SaveTheCrew Night, the Columbus Eagles won big in front of a massive home crowd despite quite a bit of weather-related drama. Kickoff was initially delayed half an hour, and then the second half was delayed another half hour. In the first half, Micaela Powers sent a pass to Samantha Demante, who corssed to Kelly DeNiro. DeNiro’s header found the back of the net to give Columbus a lead in the 23rd minute. Ellie Gavin added a second, her first goal for Columbus, in the 33rd. After the half time weather delay, Ashleigh Gogolin scored her first goal for Columbus to take a 3-0 lead in the 47th. Larissa Najjar made it 4-0 in the 50th. At roughly the 71st minute, the match was called on account of even more inclement weather.

SUSA FC 3, RHODE ISLAND ROGUES 2

Rhode Island Rogues’ unbeaten streak has ended at three games, falling on the road to SUSA FC. Rhode Island struck first with Ashley Jaskula scoring in the 18th minute. SUSA FC answered with goals from Julia Duffy in the 30th and Kelly Marra in the 40th. Marra got a second in the 55th, assisted by Taylor Sipos. A second goal for the Rogues, this time from Katelyn Vieira in the 61st minute, was too little too late, with the home side winning 3-2. This moves SUSA FC to the top of the Metropolitan Conference, three points clear of both New York Athletic Club and Rhode Island.

MOTOR CITY FC 2, FC PRIDE 2

Motor City FC’s incredible streak of five clean sheets came to an end in the second half against Indianapolis-based FC Pride. Motor City’s Madi Alexander scored first in the 60th minute, followed by an FC Pride goal in the 67th, the first conceded all season. FC Pride added a second in the 75th, to take a brief 2-1 lead. Nine minutes later, Reilly Martin drew Motor City level in the 84th minute to preserve the unbeaten streak.

CLEVELAND AMBASSADORS 3, STEEL CITY FC 2

Cleveland has been working hard to take the fight to Motor City FC, and this result helps the Ambassadors in their trek up the table. After a scoreless first half, Cleveland’s Lani Smith, Kati Druzina, and Anna Rico all scored, while Anna Miller scored twice for Steel City.
