The Central Region’s four conferences have been decided.

Tti: Bluebonnets, FC Dallas and the Chicago Red Stars Reserves punched their tickets to the Central Region playoffs last weekend. However, one last conference – the Heartland Conference – had its seat open.

Sunday’s match between the Kansas City Athletics and Fire & Ice SC was supposed to be the conference-deciding match. However, a Saturday loss at the hands of the Des Moines Menace Women left the Kansas City Athletics stumbling behind on the table.

Instead, the Des Moines Menace Women jumped ahead to second place with 13 points. Fire & Ice SC, the reigning WPSL national champion and Central Region champion, won the group with 18 points.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Athletics finished with 12 points.

South Texas also kept a close race for first place. However, the points were decided last weekend and the Tti: Bluebonnets are moving on. Tti narrowly edged out AHFC Royals and Lonestar SC for first place. Now, Tti: Bluebonnets will host the WPSL Central Region playoffs.
