Following Pensacola FC’s 6-2 win over Chattanooga FC on Friday, Pensacola advanced to the South Regional finals last Sunday to take on the Sunshine Conference representative, Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions.

The Dutch Lions were able to hold Pensacola’s potent offense scoreless through the bulk of the match, but Uchenna Kanu had the final say. Pensacola broke the scoreless deadlock at the start of second-half added time, and Kanu added a brace on the cusp of full time to give her club the 2-0 win and the 2018 South Region Championship.

This means that Pensacola FC now moves on to the semifinals to determine the winner of the 2018 WPSL Championship. Pensacola is potentially 180 minutes away from its first ever WPSL Championship title, and will continue its playoff journey on Friday when it takes on Chicago Red Stars Reserves. Both semifinal matches as well as the 2018 WPSL Championship match will be held at Gordon Drummond Field in Norman, Oklahoma.
